NRL powerbrokers are reportedly set to review a crucial Knights try which occurred off an extra play in Newcastle’s huge win over South Sydney.

Adam O’Brien’s side tallied their seventh consecutive win on Sunday afternoon with one four-pointer now reportedly under the microscope according to the SMH.

As the score sat at 12-4, the Rabbitohs kicked the ball dead handing the Knights a seven-tackle set.

On what appears to be the eighth tackle of the sequence, hooker Phoenix Crossland kicked for prop Daniel Saifiti who scored untouched.

Upon replay, the tackle counter can be seen missing the 5th play-the-ball of the set.

The Knights eventually won the game 29-10, but the victory leaves the Rabbitohs desperate for a win against the Roosters in Round 27 with the bye next week.

South Sydney powerbrokers are reportedly seeking answers and chief executive Blake Solly questioned how mistakes are being made at the back-end of the season.

“Make no mistake, the best team on the day won,” Solly said.

“The Knights deserved the two points, they were better and I don’t think this altered the result.

“I would hate to do anything that takes credit away from the Knights and they way they performed.

“Having said that, we are going into the most important part of the season, and it’s imperative the game gets these calls right.”

It wasn’t the only controversial moment in the game that the Rabbitohs might feel hard done by.

The Knights led 18-4 with 20 minutes remaining when Latrell Mitchell defused a grubber, but lost control of the ball.

It saw the ball go to ground and roll straight into referee Grant Atkins’ legs with Knights halfback Adam Clune diving on the ball for a try.
