Talented Wests Tigers youngster Tallyn Da Silva is poised to become one of the hottest prospects on the player market with four NRL clubs monitoring his contract situation at Concord.
While Da Silva, who is signed until the end of 2026, isn’t able to field any formal offers until November 1, a number of clubs including three Sydney based rivals are expected to pounce if Da Silva becomes a free agent.
Da Silva’s long-term future at the Tigers could come down to Api Koroisau’s next contract move and whether the co-captain extends his time at the club beyond 2026.
Da Silva is currently an understudy to the premiership winning dummy-half but could command the starting hooking role elsewhere.
The Tigers are also facing a battle to retain fellow Campbelltown local junior and star five-eighth Lachlan Galvin long term. Galvin will also become a free agent in seven months and, like Da Silva, will have rival outfits lining up to secure his services.
Already, Galvin has been linked to a move back to Parramatta as a replacement for five-eighth Dylan Brown, who last week inked a rich $13 million deal making him the richest player in the NRL.
It’s understood the Tigers have yet to formally table an extension offer to either Galvin or Da Silva.
But the talented youngsters are a key retention priority for the club, which is believed to be preparing a multimillion-dollar deal to keep Galvin at Concord.
Tigers coach Benji Marshall made a point of praising Da Silva’s performance from the bench when asked about how well his spine combined in last weekend’s win against arch rivals Parramatta.
“Even the 14 (Da Silva)... I think they really got us home this week,” Marshall said.
“He only played 20-odd minutes today, but I thought they had quality minutes, and his strength is running the footy.
“When he comes on and they’re tired, that’s what we need him to do. I thought both attack and defence, he was outstanding for us today.
“Given Api is underdone a little bit. I thought he did a real good job putting in there. We’re happy with the way he went.
Despite still being only 19-years old, Da Silva’s leadership qualities have been rewarded by Marshall, who appointed the teenager as captain during the pre-season trials.
“We’ve adopted in the pre-season that everyone can be a leader at some stage in this team,” Marshall said.
“You don’t have to be the most vocal or the most experienced. You can lead and I thought Tallyn, we had a camp in the pre-season, he was really good with his leadership, and you have got to help him grow that. He’ll get better, he’s still only a kid.”
The likes of Jeral Skelton, Jack Bird, Luke Laulilii, Sione Fainu and Starford To’a will also hit the market on November 1.
While rising fullback Jahream Bula has a mutual option to remain at Concord in 2027.
Adam Doueihi, Brent Naden, Charlie Staines, Josh Feledy, Justin Matamua and Kit Laulilii are unsigned beyond season 2025.
