Only a successful night at the judiciary can save Tariq Sims’ St George Illawarra career from being over after the forward was whacked with a four-week ban for an ugly hit on Cronulla’s Connor Tracey.

It comes as James Fisher-Harris faces up to three weeks on the sideline after the match review committee charged the Penrith enforcer with a grade three careless high tackle on Canberra’s Ryan Sutton.

Ashley Klein sin-binned Sims for the tackle that knocked out Tracey in the 12th minute of Saturday night’s 24-18 to Cronulla but the referee has come under criticism for not sending off the Dragons forward.

The game was stopped for around five minutes while Tracey was treated for the high shot and then stretchered off the field.

If Sims does decide to fight the charge and losses, the 32-year old will miss five weeks and will only play for the Red V again if the Dragons make the finals – otherwise a five week ban would rub him out round one for his new side the Melbourne Storm next season.

Sims is facing a lengthy ban given it is the backrower’s third and subsequent offence this season.

At Penrith, Fisher-Harris, who was sin-binned for the tackle on Sutton, will miss two weeks if he opts to take the early plea. The New Zealand international must successfully fight the charge at the judiciary if he is to take the field in Thursday night’s blockbuster against Melbourne.

Panthers teammate Jaeman Salmon is facing a $1,000 fine after he copped a grade one contrary for the kick on Tom Starling that led to Raider coach labelling the playmaker a “weak gutted dog.”

Raiders winger Nick Cotric will miss one week with an early plea after he was cited with a grade two careless high tackle on Penrith fullback Dylan Edwards.

From the same game, Joe Tapine won’t miss any game if he takes the early plea on a grade one crusher tackle charge on Fisher-Harris. As a second time offence, Tapine will cop a $3,000 fine with an early plea.

Warriors hooker Taniela Otukolo was also charged with a grade one crusher tackle on South Sydney centre Isaiah Tass. The youngster is facing a $1,500 fine for the incident.
