From Immortals Arthur Beetson, Wally Lewis and Mal Meninga, right through to the recent crop of Cameron Smith, Cameron Munster and Kalyn Ponga, Queensland has always been a hotbed of rugby league talent.

And for a period, with the Broncos the only team in town, Brisbane managed to hang onto many of their locals. But times have changed.

NRL talent scouts are posted all over the state and Queensland clubs the Broncos, Titans and Cowboys face serious competition for their best youngsters.

And that’s not to mention the new club on the block, the Dolphins, who enter the competition in 2023 and will place even more pressure on the rookie market.
