Leniu, who was coming off contract at the end of 2021, had been linked with a move to former Penrith assistant Trent Barrett’s Bulldogs, who have already poached Jack Hetherington and young playmaker Matt Burton from the Panthers. Burton will join the Bulldogs in 2022.

Leniu, 20, is a former Australian Schoolboys forward who has also represented NSW under-20s.

With Leniu locked in the Panthers can turn their attention to re-signing star centre Stephen Crichton, along with five-eighth Jarome Luai and lock Isaah Yeo.
