Sharks halfback Nicho Hynes can do no wrong on the field, but he’s shown time and time again that he’s a star off the field as well as evidenced by his latest touching act.

Hynes played a starring role in the Sharks 44-6 win over the Cowboys, winning the inaugural Paul Green medal for man-of-the-match.

In the Cronulla sheds post-game, he acknowledged the Green family, wife Amanda and children Emerson and Jed before presenting his game-worn jersey and medal to Green’s kids.

“Thanks to Paul’s family for coming in and I appreciate you two (Green’s kids) coming in as well,” Hynes said.

“I’d like to donate my medal and jersey to you.”

Green, who passed away last year, played 95 games for Cronulla and coached the Cowboys to their first NRL premiership back in 2015.

Thursday night’s game was the first instance the two teams played for the Paul Green medal.

Hynes spoke beautifully on the field after receiving the medal.

“Paul Green, player 290. He’s an integral part of this club. Both clubs,” Hynes said.

“It is an absolute honour to be able to receive this award for the first time.

“It is a crazy feeling right now, because I know how much he means to everyone here.

“Everyone, make sure we all check in on each other because you never know what is going on.”
