The Parramatta Eels will have to do without star halfback Mitchell Moses after it was announced he had a minor back fracture.

Moses incurred the injury in the early stages of Game Three in State of Origin, when he made his debut for the NSW Blues.

However, he managed to play through the pain for the rest of the game, with the Blues eventually falling 20-18 to the Maroons but winning the series.

Moses will be sidelined indefinitely, and it comes at a crucial time for the Eels as they face a top eight side in five of their seven remaining fixtures.

Games against the Roosters, Rabbitohs, Sea Eagles, Storm and Panthers represent a mammoth task for the Eels to maintain their spot in the top four on the NRL ladder going into the finals.

Moses was rested against the Titans in Round 18, with Jake Arthur stepping in at halfback. Arthur will do so again for the Eels against the Raiders on Thursday night.

Eels officials are yet to rule out Moses for the remainder of the season, and are monitoring his situation daily.
