Clint Gutherson has shown once again how valuable he is to the Parramatta Eels in the victory over the Sharks, their third of the season.
But the talented ballplayer was yet to be locked in to a long-term contract by the club and Matt Johns said the Eels needed to act quickly.
In this Monday’s “Big Three” Johns said that officials should be doing everything possible to keep Gutherson at the club.
“If I’m a Parramatta official, I’m getting Gutho into the office tomorrow morning and I’m not letting him leave the office till he signs an extension, a three or four year deal,” Johns said.

“He’s off contract at the end of the year. Negotiations so far have stalled but they can’t afford to lose him.
“He is so far this year been one of the best players in the competition and if they lose Gutherson it is going to cost a lot of money to replace him, they can’t afford to do it.”
Johns also singled out Nathan Cleary for rising to the occasion under a pressure situation in the Panthers win over the Tigers and was in awe of the Cleary-Cronk combination.
