Footy reporter exposed: 'He gets caught!'

A rugby league reporter has been stitched up by his colleagues after he was caught out for losing his focus on the sidelines.

On the Sunday Night with Matty Johns Show, footage was shown of Fox League reporter Jake Duke on the sidelines during a Manly Sea Eagles game at Brookvale Oval earlier this season.

FOX LEAGUE, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every game of every round in the 2025 NRL Telstra Premiership, LIVE in 4K with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? Get your first month for just $1. Limited-time offer.

After his regular segment where he gives out an award for the hardest working player that weekend, Fox League’s resident prankster Bryan Fletcher threw his colleague under bus.

Vision was shown of Duke gazing at a group of cheerleaders, before his head spun around and he burst into laughter upon realising he was being filmed.

“This is Jake Duke last weekend at Brookvale, have a look at this dirtbag,” Fletcher said, tongue in cheek.

“He’s just there having a look and he’s been caught!”

Fletcher then royally stitched up NRL 360 host Braith Anasta, bringing up archival footage of the former NRL star with a bushy moustache and shirtless look photoshopped on him.

“He (Duke) has been hanging around Braith Anasta,” Fletcher continued.

“I was thinking, where have I seen that look before?

“I had to go back to the archives. Remember this?” Fletcher said as the Ron Burgundy-esque footage flashed up of Anasta from early in his career at Fox Sports.

Fletcher concluded with a grin: “Two dirtbags.”

Matty Johns said: “A dirt bag but Braith is doing a great job on NRL 360, and Jake is doing a great job as well.

Fletcher said: “He’s looking good Jake, he’s trimmed a few kgs.”

Elsewhere on the Matty Johns Show, the panel said the Newcastle Knights had plenty of work to after going 276 minutes without scoring a try.

The Tigers beat Newcastle 20-4 on Sunday as the Knights once again struggled to hit the scoreboard and that trend continued with Fletcher Sharpe and Phoenix Crossland not producing many opportunities in attack in the absence of injured Jack Cogger.

“At the moment, their attack is really struggling,” Matty Johns said on Fox League.

Nathan Hindmarsh added: “It looks like at the moment their solely relying on Kalyn (Ponga) to jag something from the back. There was no one really else they’re looking at for something for happen.”

Knights skipper Ponga was spotted gathering his teammates in a huddle in the changerooms at halftime and marshalling his troops in an effort to inspire the team after going down 14-0.
