Ethan Bullemor loan deal: Canberra Raiders set to land Broncos young gun

He’s as fast as David Fifita and Payne Haas and the young Brisbane forward could be rocketing his way straight to the national capital this weekend.

The injury-ravaged Raiders are closing in on a loan deal with rising Brisbane forward Ethan Bullemor, the young backrower who can run faster than blue chip stars David Fifita and Payne Haas.

Signed by the Broncos as a 13-year-old, Bullemor has spent the past 72 hours in negotiations to join Canberra as soon as this weekend.

On contract with Brisbane next year, the deal to join the Green Machine would be for the remainder of this season.

The Raiders view the 21-year-old as an ideal fix for their current injury crisis in the forwards.

Unavailable for Canberra coach Ricky Stuart due to long-term injuries are Sia Soliola (facial fracture), Josh Hodgson (knee), Emre Guhler (ankle) and Corey Horsburgh (foot).

John Bateman (shoulder) was named to return for the first time this season against South Sydney on Saturday, but he must pass a medical test on Friday.

Outside back Michael Oldfield (hamstring) and Curtis Scott (arm) are also unavailable for selection.

Bullemor made his NRL debut in round two this season against South Sydney.

The deal would be on top of the signing of Canterbury’s Corey Harawira-Naera.

Despite the Broncos’ woeful year, he has only been used sparingly by coach Anthony Seibold, featuring in just three matches.

The promise of more game time and the upside of having gained NRL experience at the Raiders would prove invaluable for his development.

Previous reports on the 2019 Queensland under 20s representative have stated GPS testing by the Broncos have recorded Bullemor running faster than gun forwards Fifita and Haas.

He is also a high achiever having scored an OP 1 at St Joseph’s Nudgee College, the highest score possible, and is studying a Bachelor of Advanced Economics at university.

The Raiders hope to seal the deal within the next 48-hours.
