The Titans have joined forces with global music heart-throb Cody Simpson as the Gold Coast launch a Tina Turner-style marketing campaign in their quest for a maiden premiership this season.

This masthead can reveal pop sensation Simpson, a born-and-bred Gold Coaster, has spearheaded a glitzy new soundtrack - labelled Fly - in a bid to inspire Des Hasler’s Titans to NRL title glory in 2025.

The revelation comes as Titans skipper Tino Fa’asuamaleaui outlined his burning desire to snap the club’s 18-year premiership drought and create an NRL dynasty on the Gold Coast.

As the new NRL season prepares to kick-off this Sunday in Las Vegas, the Titans have turned to one of Australia’s most well-known “rockstars” to be the face and voice of their 2025 campaign.

Rugby league bosses famously enlisted American pop queen Turner for their stunning Simply The Best campaign in the 1980s and 1990s and now the Titans believe Simpson’s style and pop gravitas can give them a fresh edge.

Southport-born Reece Walsh may be viewed as the NRL’s rockstar, but Simpson is ten times bigger than the Broncos wonder boy with a whopping 5.1 million followers on his social-media platforms.

Hasler’s troops will launch their 2025 season on March 16 against the Bulldogs and Simpson, a proud Gold Coast fan, hopes his Fly soundtrack can help the Titans soar to title heights.

“I wrote this song about my life and mindset as an athlete,” said Simpson, who swam for Australia at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, winning gold and silver.

“To have the visuals of this song attached to the athletes that represent my home city of the Gold Coast is fitting.

“Working on this campaign and bringing Fly to life with the team has been an incredible experience.

“The Titans game day experience is one of the best in the country and I can’t wait to see the video play on the big screen in the stadium on game day this season.”

The collaboration is a ground-breaking fusion of sport and music, with Simpson joined by the Titans’ NRL and NRLW players in a three-minute clip that evokes stirring images of the Simply The Best campaign.

Turner won over Aussie league fans when she belted out her hit song alongside some of the Winfield Cup’s biggest stars, including Andrew Ettingshausen, Allan Langer and Peter Sterling.

Fast forward three decades and Simpson has delivered a dynamic clip capturing several Titans stars, including Fa’asuamaleaui, Jayden Campbell, David Fifita, AJ Brimson, Brian Kelly and Keano Kini, who dances to the tune.

NRLW ace Jaime Chapman, who is dating Queensland Origin speed machine Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, also features heavily in the video.

As Simpson is filmed singing Fly in the Titans’ dressing room, images of Fifita mixing with the community are shown, while club legend Preston Campbell, the father of Jayden, makes a cameo appearance.

There is also vision of the Titans’ maiden premiership game in 2007 and former Origin centre Chris Walker, who scored Gold Coast’s first ever try.

Fa’asuamaleaui relished being the centrepiece of the Simpson campaign and said he enters the new season with renewed hunger, hellbent on captaining the Titans to a watershed premiership.

“It would mean everything to bring a premiership to the Gold Coast,” he said.

“One of the reasons I came here was because I like that underdog tag and I would love to be part of something special here.

“Finals is definitely a realistic goal. We have a strong squad but we won’t know for sure until we’re pressure tested when the competition starts.

“I really want success at the Titans.

“I want us to be on the path of building a dynasty and achieving a winning culture.

“I hope we can stick together as a squad for a long time because it would be pretty cool.”

Titans CEO Steve Mitchell lauded the support of Simpson in the club’s quest for title success.

“We’re really excited to have Cody supplying the soundtrack for our 2025 season,” he said.

“The way the video merges our NRL and NRLW sides as well as capturing our home here on the Gold Coast is a fantastic showcase of our club.

“Cody has a massive following and we know that through this collaboration that the Titans brand will be exposed to a whole wave of potential new fans.”

The Fly campaign will feature across social media, TV, and Titans game-day events at Cbus Super Stadium.

Titans business operations boss Scott Rollinson said Simpson’s song is a perfect fit for what the club is trying to achieve.

“Cody is an incredible talent,” he said.

“Most importantly he is a Gold Coast local who has taken that talent to some of the biggest stages around the world both as an athlete and an artist.

“He’s been a big supporter of the project ever since we first pitched the collaboration to him, and we’re thrilled in how it has come together.

“He understood our vision for this project and as an athlete himself, I think the project really resonated with him.”
