CEO slams player behaviour after third incident in Broncos’ bad boy off-season

It’s only a few weeks in the off-season for the Broncos but three incidents already after another horror season is not good enough.

Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy has blasted the club’s players after TC Robati became the latest star to be embroiled in off-season controversy since their season came to an end.

The Courier Mail reported Donaghy is disappointed in the players for continuing a bad boy image for the club that he is desperately trying to eradicate.

Donaghy’s response came after Robati was charged over a dangerous driving incident.

“TC Robati has allegedly been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle,” Channel 7’s Chris Garry tweeted.

According to The Courier Mail the NRL and the Broncos are investigating the matter, with the 19-year-old facing a $500 fine.

Robati is understood to have been in the passenger seat when the car, driven by his partner, swerved across the road drastically on the club’s Mad Monday on September 5.

Robati reportedly grabbed the steering wheel after the vehicle had missed a desired turn in Fortitude Valley, before police intervened.

The incident came a day after Broncos forwards Tom Flegler and Jordan Riki were caught up in a pub fight that left Riki requiring stitches to a facial injury.

Meanwhile departing playmaker Anthony Milford was recently arrested over an alleged assault incident.

Milford is understood to have assaulted three witnesses following an altercation with his wife at their property.

“I’m incredibly disappointed with how the last few weeks have unfolded,” Donaghy told The Courier Mail.

“If we are fair dinkum about being a world-class sporting organisation, we can’t just talk the talk, we need to walk the walk and that’s everyone.

“I don’t want to comment specifically on TC Robati’s matter as it is due to be settled in the courts.

“But we reported it to the integrity unit and the players understand how disappointed I am with what’s happened in recent weeks.

“It (improving the individual) is something I am passionate about and it will be an enormous focus for us moving forward.”

Donaghy declared the Broncos would increase their support systems to ensure the Broncos run of poor player behaviour does not continue for the rest of thew off-season and into the 2022 season.

“We will keep putting good people in place,” Donaghy said.

“We will be investing in support services available for players.

“We have committed to that and we think that is an area we can address.”
