Broncos coach Anthony Seibold is arriving at a fatal crossroads. The dire state of the club was evident as players left the field crying after defeat to the Warriors.

A shattered Anthony Seibold admits he is clueless to explain Brisbane’s constant capitulations after the Broncos’ shambolic loss to the Warriors pushed skipper Alex Glenn to breaking point.

It all ended in tears — literally — for the Broncos with Glenn and halfback Brodie Croft breaking down after the Broncos squandered a 10-0 lead to crash 26-16 in a gut-wrenching loss at Central Coast Stadium.

Croft cried as if he had lost the NRL grand final, while Glenn was so inconsolable the 263-game warhorse received an extended hug and quasi-counselling from Warriors veteran and former Broncos teammate Adam Blair.

The battered Broncos have now lost six consecutive games and they will officially slump to equal last with the Titans if the Bulldogs beat Souths today at Bankwest Stadium.

Seibold admitted before the clash he would sack himself if he didn’t believe he was the right man to rebuild the Broncos and on the evidence of the past six weeks, the besieged coach is arriving at a fatal crossroads.

The Broncos had every reason to beat the Warriors. The Kiwis were without star fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and lost key playmaker Kodi Nikorima to concussion after just five minutes, but Brisbane’s final-quarter collapse left Seibold in a world of hurt without answers.

“I’m not sure why we are fading out of games, but we are,” Seibold lamented.

“We are learning some tough lessons at the moment.

“I’m really disappointed. I’m sad for the group and disappointed, it’s a real tough time for us at the moment.

“I would love to find out (some answers). I thought we did a really good job in the first half, but in the second half we just couldn’t get the job done.”

Asked to describe the sight of Glenn and Croft crying, Seibold said: “It makes me sad.

“How Alex and Brodie are is how we are all feeling, including myself. It’s disappointing to see the results when I know what we have in the change rooms.

“I’m quite emotive. I’m really upset and disappointed, we fly back to Queensland and the only thing we can do is review the game and try and get better.”

Glenn made his Broncos debut in 2009 and said he can rarely recall a more devastating period in his 12-season NRL career.

“It hurts,” he said. “I got overwhelmed out there, sometimes we cry and get upset.

“I know the effort we put into training every week. We are lacking discipline, I just care for this club and the team so much and the emotions came out.

“I won’t shy away from it. Sometimes you shed tears.

“Being here for 12 years, this is one of the toughest periods I’ve been through. I’d rather be the captain now testing myself because once we turn this around, it will be a hell of a story.”
