Northern Pride football operations manager Chey Bird has announced his retirement from the role.
Pride CEO Mark Quinn confirmed the news on Wednesday and paid tribute to the outgoing administrator and the club’s all-time leading points scorer.
“It was great to work with one of the legends of the club,” he said.
“Chey was heavily involved in player recruitment, community engagement, organising flights and accommodation when he had to travel to play games and, especially on game days, he was also very involved with our coaches Ty Williams and Dave Scott.
“No doubt he will leave big shoes to fill.”
Pride chairman Tony Williamson said the foundation fullback would always be welcome at the club.
“We thank him for his time while he was employed and wish him all the very best,” he said.
“He’ll still be around the place.”
Quinn said Bird’s departure opened up an opportunity at the Pride for the next person to come into the role.
