NSW Swifts Grace Nweke headlines Code Sports Super Netball Team of the Week

Round six saw a spectacular battle of the goal shooters, with fans treated to career bests and high class scoring. But only one shooter could make Code Sports’ Team of the Week. Have your say.

Sunshine Coast Lightning goaler Reilley Batcheldor poured in 50 points for the Lightning in a career-best showing in her team’s commanding win over the Melbourne Vixens.

But in a stunning round for shooters, her 50-piece was the lowest return for victorious players wearing the GS bib.

Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard will start next round just a handful of goals shy of the 9000 barrier after dropping 53 goals at 96 per cent accuracy in the West Coast Fever’s win over the Adelaide Thunderbirds.

Her effort couldn’t match that of Melbourne holding shooter Shimona Jok, who finished with an incredible 61 goals at 100 per cent accuracy in the Mavericks’ win over the Queensland Firebirds.

Surely that couldn’t be beaten.

The Silver Ferns shooter finished with 64 goals (95 per cent) and just a single turnover to shade Jok by a hair to finish top of the shooting pile and claim the shooting spot in Code Netball’s team of the week.

Nweke was one of three Swifts players in the team of the week after their big win in the NSW derby.

They were joined by Mavericks centre Molly Jovic, Vixens wing defence Kate Moloney and two Lightning players after Courtney Bruce, with her eight gains against the Vixens, just shaded the Mavs’ Olivia Lewis after her incredible blocks against the tallest player in the league.
