Netball SA is seeking a new chief executive after Ben Scales surprisingly announced his decision to quit the position on Thursday after six years.
Scales said the decision to leave the job had been difficult, but claimed the time was right for himself and the organisation.
“I am extremely passionate about the organisation, the sport and the people involved, and I
needed to make the call on where I was sitting both professionally and personally to deliver
the next phase for the business,” Scales said.
“The next three to five years will be an exciting and busy time for the organisation and the
team to deliver our vision and the time is right for someone new to lead this.”
Revealing Scales’ decision on Thursday, NSA said he led dynamic change within the organisation, in particular over the past 12 months which has seen a number of significant initiatives implemented.
Scales has led the development of the new strategic plan which he believes will drive the business forward and grow the sport in South Australia, as well as overseeing the creation a new structure for Adelaide Thunderbirds with the development of an advisory commission.
“I am incredibly proud of where Netball SA is situated to tackle the challenges that lay
ahead, and I leave the organisation well placed to build on the outcomes and success that
we have achieved over the past six years,” Scales said.
“It is time for someone new to lead the business through the next stage of its evolution,
including the delivery of a new and exciting strategic plan.”
Scales will continue with Netball SA until mid-March.
