Chaz Mostert has pipped Scott McLaughlin for pole position at The Bend today, with the two drivers making it a Ford Mustang front row at the OTR SuperSprint.
In a very windy and a little wet qualifying session, Mostert set a time of 1:47.5227 to beat McLaughlin in the final moments by 0.17 seconds.
McLaughlin had just taken off his helmet and gloves back in the pits, confident that he had set a good time and did not need more time on track, when Mostert ran over the start/finish line faster.

Team 18’s Mark Winterbottom also capitalised and will start the race from third in his Holden, while Andre Heimgartner was the best of the Nissan Altimas, qualifying sixth.
It was the first time the progressive qualifying system had been used in Supercars at The Bend, with the best six drivers from the bottom 16 in practice yesterday taking to the track first.
None of the four South Australian drivers made it past the first of the three 10-minute qualifying sessions, with Freightliner Racing’s Tim Slade the best of them, set to start the first race from 17th.
Supercars will race from 3.25pm.
