Toyota 86 race cars to carry Adelaide Crows colours at Tailem Bend Supercars event
ADELAIDE’S AFL season might be as good as over, but two Toyota 86 race cars carrying the Crows’ colours will be aiming for glory at the Tailem Bend SuperSprint next weekend.
IT’S been a full 25 years since the Camry Crows were “revvin’ hard til the siren goes”.
But that oh-so-90s club song from Adelaide’s foundation years will gain fresh relevance next weekend when two race cars carry the Crows’ red, blue and gold colours during a support race at Tailem Bend’s OTR SuperSprint Supercars event.
Veteran Supercars driver Jason Bright will make his return to racing in the Toyota 86 series in a car emblazoned in Adelaide warpaint, as part of his preparation for the upcoming 2018 Enduro Cup.
Bright, the 1998 Bathurst 1000 winner, last year retired from full-time racing but will partner Lee Holdsworth during this season’s three-race miniseries at Sandown, Bathurst and Gold Coast.
Former Supercars pilot Chris Pither will drive the other Crows-themed Toyota 86.
One car will be customised in the mostly dark blue of Adelaide’s home strip and carry the No. 18 and name of Eddie Betts.
The second, mainly white in a nod to the Crows’ clash jumper, will feature captain Taylor Walker’s name and race under his No. 13. guernsey number.
The move stems from Toyota and Adelaide’s long-time corporate partnership. Toyota has a similar relationship with the NRL’s North Queensland Cowboys, and ran in colours supporting the home club at last month’s Townsville Supercars event.
