VALENTINO Rossi has been cleared of injury after having a nasty-looking crash in the early laps of the Aragon MotoGP.
VALENTINO Rossi has been cleared of serious injury after crashing out in the early laps of the Aragon MotoGP.
The nine-time world champion was battling Dani Pedrosa for third place when he misjudged an overtaking move and ran wide off the track.
His bike snapped sideways as he crossed over a stretch of astroturf, wet from morning rain, spitting the Italian off his Yamaha at speed, both rider and machine tumbling to a stop just short of the airfence.

Rossi was briefly knocked out in the crash and was stretchered away by marshalls, but was able to walk into MotoGP’s travelling trackside medical centre under his own power.
Preliminary checks cleared him of injury, but he was transferred to the nearby Alcaniz hospital for a CT scan and further checks.
“Valentino suffered a concussion with a suspected loss of consciousness,” Clinica Mobile medical director Michele Zasa explained.
“From a neurological point of view he has recovered very well. He was taken to hospital in Alcañiz to make a further check, in particular a CT scan of the skull that has ruled out any bleeding in the brain.
“As a precaution he will be observed in the coming hours, but there are no special reasons for concern.”
Rossi later posted this photo on his social media pages, telling his fans he was okay “apart from the headache”.
Rossi’s condition will be closely monitored by the Clinica Mobile team, who will need to clear him to ride in the next MotoGP round at Motegi in two weeks’ time.
Although the crash meant the San Marino MotoGP winner left Aragon with no points, a late-race crash from Dani Pedrosa means Rossi only lost one point to the Spaniard in their battle for second in the world championship.
