Hines, a Brothers Ipswich junior, scored 102 from 110 balls in a stunning performance given, seven days earlier, the BSHS bowlers had dismissed Nudgee for just 86.

Hines dominated the opening two hours, and his presence no doubt gave middle order players Rushi Kakkad (35, 42 balls), Lachlan Cullen (28, 29 balls) and Ryan Weththasinghe (20 not out, 18 balls) the confidence to play their shots later in the innings.

Around his six fours, Hines lofted three sixes and his name will now be added to IGS’s cricket honour board.

Despite the savage assault by Hines and his teammates, BSHS bowlers Charles Hinze (1-35, 10 overs) and captain Kethmin Meegasdeniya (2-33, 10 overs) held up well.

When BSHS batted, IGS’s new ball fast bowlers Oscar Dioth and Callum Pamenter mortally wounded the BSHS line-up.

Dioth bowled straight and quick to get two wickets, and Pamenter one which immediately rolled BSHS onto the backfoot.

Dilshan Wickrama (23) tried to counter attack while Charles Hinze did push on in impressive fashion, but the damage had been done.

On Oakman Oval, there was action aplenty in the BBC-Terrace clash, with the Terrace toppling bowlers BBC early before D’Arcy Satharasinghe counterattacked in stunning fashion for BBC (55, 37 balls).

Terrace’s Jackson McDonald then triggered a late order collapse, although Brisbane Boys College still found 161 runs thanks almost entirely to opener Robinson and allrounder Satharasinghe who scored 109 between them.

In the context of the match, and in the conditions, the pair’s half century effort for BBC was worth far more.

Satharasinghe’s breezy 55 went against the trend of the match and shifted momentum away from the Terrace bowlers and fielders.

Aside from Hales’ swing bowling netting three wickets, Year 10 student Jackson McDonald enjoyed lofty success.

The highly thought of rookie bowled 8-1-27-3, picking up BBC’s batting battleships Armstrong and Atley for ducks. He also dismissed BBC opener Robinson (54) who was set after facing 82 balls.

In the Terrace innings, it all came down as to whether Theodore Bacalakis could bat through the innings after his side lost five early wickets, two of which fell to Armstrong’s left arm spin.

Off-spinner D’Arcy Satharasinghe continued to be in the game with another wicket and, defending a low score, BBC were on top.

Bacalakis (43) fought hard for 98 balls before Christian Alexander claimed him caught behind by Ryan Atley.

Alexander, the BBC vice-captain, then dismissed Samuel Jones and Terrace could not win. Alexander took 2-7, Armstrong 2-12 and leg spinner Ashton Clark 2-18, while Satharasinghe snared a wicket, a catch and generated a run out.

At Northgate, Churchie’s bowlers managed to get around BGS’s Queensland U17 representative Eli Brian (58) to restrict their opponents score to 149, setting up the six wicket win.

Allrounder and captain Tighe Morris, also a Queensland representative, could not have been more impressive during his nine over stint (2-22) for Churchie. His performance included an early spell of 6-3-10-2 that netted both BGS openers.

Morris teamed with his vice-captain, Angus Storen, early in the innings to put the breaks on the BGS batsmen before Brain broke free of the chains to score 58 from 77 balls.

But he fell to Angus Peters, one of three crucial, middle order victims for Peters.

Indeed the Cruz Baker-Brain partnership was altering the momentum of the match, but Peters struck to remove both batsmen, Baker had batted well for his patient 28.

Storen (3-27) then finished off the tail and Churchie went to lunch well placed.

In the Churchie innings, BGS’s Will Driessen had his teammates roaring early when he claimed Storen’s wicket early.

BGS’s spirited bowlers fought hard, particularly Brain and Driessen, while Rishi Mehta built pressure and Brodie Martin deservedly claimed two wickets.

But in the end BGS did not scramble enough runs as Morris (40) and Sean Hansen (38 not out) saw their side safely to victory.

On the Village Green at Southport, The Southport School bowlers and fielders tossed a lasso at the TGS batsmen (112), before Sinfield gave his teammates a chance to catch some mid-afternoon waves at the beach when he scored a stunning 75 not out.

But the match was won by the TSS bowlers during the morning session. After Ellis McCarthy claimed 1-18 from his six overs, Edward Wallace (1-7, six overs), Riley Eckersley (3-23) and Dushyant Thaman (2-25) built pressure and took wickets.

Eckersley and left arm Queensland U17 spinner Thaman bowled beautifully in partnership against TGS’s best batsmen.

Then late in the innings Thomas Barnes snared a remarkable 3-2 from just nine balls.

Toowoomba Grammar batsmen Dominic Seaby (23), captain Joshua Cranston (22), Fraser Judd (22) and Oliver Lockwood (17) all put a high price on their wickets, fighting to the death.
