“It’s good to race at home and the opportunity to do so in front of so many people, racing in front of a full house is amazing,” she said.

“We are training hard and are focused as we all look to Tokyo 2020, and The Advertiser Track Down Under is an opportunity before the world championships for our friends and family, as well as the fans to see us race.”

Glaetzer meanwhile continues his recovery from thyroid cancer which required surgery and radiotherapy late last year and said he was “training well and feeling really good”.

“I’m just looking forward to getting out there,” he said.

Australia’s starter in the men’s team sprint, Nathan Hart, said the Track Down Under was a rare chance to race on home soil.

“We have such strong support from the fans, it’s nice to show them what we’ve got,” he said.

“We compete all around the world so it is nice to race at home for sure.”

Friday night’s program will include Australia’s men’s and women’s team pursuits doing 3km time trials, mixed team sprints and para-cycling. Racing at the SuperDrome begins at 7.30pm.
