A trio of interstate-born swimming talents has made SA home in a bid to represent Australia at another Olympic Games.
Leiston Pickett, Madi Wilson and Travis Mahoney have each relocated to Adelaide to train under renowned coach Peter Bishop in his SA Sports Institute squad.
But living away from family and friends during a global pandemic has been tough.
So they have welcomed news that every race from the SA Short Course Swimming Championships will be exclusively live streamed on advertiser.com.au from 9am on Friday.
Backstroker Mahoney, who made his first Olympic team at Rio 2016, said it was hard knowing his Victoria-based relatives would not be pool side watching him race.
“It’s been a difficult year,” said Mahoney, a Marion competitor for the past three years.
“I’m originally from Melbourne and my parents are still there and they obviously have had a very long lockdown.
“I’m sure they’ll be tuning in to my race (on the live stream).

“It’s great they’ll have an opportunity to watch me, because they always come and support me at every race.”
Mahoney, 30, was keen to put his best foot forward ahead of the Tokyo Games, which had been rescheduled to July 2021 due to the coronavirus.
Likewise Pickett, a London Olympian and two-time Commonwealth Games breaststroke gold medallist, who moved to SA from Queensland earlier this year.
The 28-year-old breaststroker was thriving under Bishop’s guidance and was keen to use the three-day state titles to finetune for the Olympic trials.
“I”m really excited,” Pickett said.
“I’ll use it as a test to see where I’m at, at this stage.
“It’s been pretty hard being away from family, too.
“So to know that Dad and the rest of the family can watch and tune in is great.”
Wilson, also a Queenslander, was looking forward to returning to competition following the COVID-19 break.
“It’s great that in SA we have been able to open up and have competitions and I am super excited to get back into it,” Wilson, 26, said.
“I competed in the short course meet in 2018, so this will be my second time competing.
“For us, I think it’s just about seeing where we are at with the interrupted year for us and seeing what we need to improve on in the next 12 months.
“(Making the) Olympics next year is my goal and it’s what drives me every day.”
This year marks the first time SA’s junior and senior short course titles have been split over two weekends due to coronavirus regulations.
The 14 years and over championships will be spread across 9am and 5pm sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the SA Leisure and Aquatic Centre.
