The top school-age sports stars across South Australia have been recognised on School Sport SA’s night of nights. Find out the shock finish and re-live the night’s action.

In a thrilling conclusion to the School Sport SA Awards, two talented teens could not be split as they shared the individual secondary award for 2023.

Netballing sensation Lucy Voyvodic and Australian beach volleyball young gun Cameron Zajer were announced as joint winners of the award after the judges decided the two finallists could not be separated following their incredible years.

Voyvodic was part of the national champion winning South Australian team at the Under-19 National Netball Championships and was selected to join the Australian development ranks, while Zajer collected every accolade available in the volleyball space.

The Sport SA emerging athlete of the year, Zaejer was also included in the Volleyball SA All-Star 7 following the SA Volleyball League and won the competition’s Rising Star award.

The rising stars of South Australian sport will be recognised at the Advertiser, Sunday Mail and Department for Education School Sports Awards on Wednesday, November 22.

And KommunityTV will be on hand to bring you all the excitement.

Twenty-six finalists are in the running for the awards, which are split up into four categories - individual primary, individual secondary, student officials, and team - and are held at Keith Murdoch House.

The event will be streamed LIVE and EXCLUSIVE right here from 7pm to 8.30pm.

The national champion school sport girls U18 softball side and the impressive Unley High School U17 women’s rowing team will be two of the main contenders in the teams section.

The student official honour will be a race in four while 10 athletes, including young soccer star Mia Staykov, are up for the individual primary section award.

The individual secondary section is sure to be as competitive as ever with Glenelg football star Piper Window and Adelaide 36ers prospect Fraser Roxburgh in contention.

The School Sports Awards are the joint initiative of The Advertiser, Sunday Mail and Department for Education.

A number of major sporting names have won at the awards, including Olympic gold medal swimmer Kyle Chalmers, international cricket superstar Darcie Brown, Paralympic medallist Isabella Vincent and Adelaide United young gun Milsy Murray.
