Victoria’s best athletes will be making sure the Big V is the team to beat at this weekend’s Little Athletics titles in South Australia.
The team, comprising of more than 40 athletes, will take on the rest of the country looking to win national gold for themselves.
The state is also looking to defend the Alan Triscott Trophy it won last year.

We’ve highlighted 20 athletes to look out for ahead of the event.
While all 45 selected have special abilities, the 20 selected have all been successful recently in their events.

Jack Abbruzzese, Albury
Won the state title in the 100m in under-15 and was the only runner to do a time under 14 seconds. Abbruzzese will compete in the triple jump and 100m hurdles at the nationals.
Kevin Arachchi Appuhamilage, Berwick
Won gold in the hurdles at the state school sports titles last year and represented Victoria at the nationals in school sports. The Berwick athlete will compete in three events in under-14s at the nationals.
Evan Bainbridge, Geelong
Won the state title in the 300m hurdles in under-15 and is one of the leading chances of a medal of those from Geelong. Will only compete in the hurdles at the nationals in South Australia.
Layla Dela Cruz-Smaldon, Whittlesea City
Is a budding young star after winning three state Little Athletics titles last month. She won in the 200m hurdles, the triple jump and long jump in under-13s. The Whittlesea City junior will have a busy weekend, competing in five events during the nationals.
Annabella Denton, Moe
Won the state title in under-14s in 400m and was part of a Victorian team which competed in New Zealand recently for a development camp. Will compete in the 200m and 400m at the nationals.
James Denton, Moe
Won a national championship last year in 400m at the national All Schools titles in Perth in under-15s. Denton will compete in under-14s in 100m, 200m and 400m.
Harrison Dolman, Box Hill
Is a reigning national champion in Little Athletics in the long jump. He also finished fourth in the high jump. Dolman will be competing in under-15s in both events and comes into the nationals as the state champion in high jump and long jump, after winning the recent events at the titles in March.
Zac Enderby, Cranbourne
Will compete in the multi-class event. Enderby won a state title in the 200m and is a good chance of a medal at the nationals.
Tyler Fynch, Kyneton & District
Won the under-14s 1500m race at the state titles by more than two seconds at the recent event in Melbourne. Will compete in the 1500m.
Isla Geddes, Lavington
Is already a national champion after winning the school sports national title in discus in the 12-year-old age group. She won by more than three metres over her rivals and then added the under-13 discus state title at the Little Athletics last month. Will start as one of the favourites to win the national title in under-13 discus.
Shakira Lual, Ballarat
The Ballarat runner took the under-13 state title in the 400m event in an impressive performance, winning by more than half a second. Will look to add a national title in South Australia and is only competing in the 400m.
Samantha Miles, Geelong
Finished second in javelin, shot put and discus in under-13 at the recent state titles in Melbourne. The Geelong athlete will be looking to go one better at the nationals and will compete in all three events in South Australia.
Stanley Moore, Collingwood
A gun in jumping. Moore won the high jump, triple jump and long jump at the state Little Athletics titles in under-13. Now he’ll attempt to win all three at the nationals.
Tyrone Nesbitt, Frankston
Impressively beat last year’s under-13 national Little Athletics champion Kevin De Silva to win this year’s under-14 state title in 100m. He also won the 200m title at the same event. Will look to win the double at the nationals.
Jamie Ritchie, Diamond Valley
Ritchie won the School Sport Australia national 12-year age group 200m title last year in Tasmania with a time of 25.71 seconds. She then backed it up recently to win the state title in the same event in under-13s. Will now look for national gold in Little Athletics in the 200m in under-13 and is a strong contender to do it.
Adele Roche, South Melbourne
Will compete in the 100m and 400m this year in under-15s. Last year at the national titles, Roche won bronze in the 400m in under-14. She will be looking to win a medal this year after finishing second in the state titles in the 400m.
Zoe Schultz, Box Hill
Won four national titles last year in the MC1 class. Schultz won in the 100m, 200m, 800m and long jump. This year she will compete in four events - 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m - and won all events in her class at the recent state titles in Melbourne. A talented junior.
Ben Tornatora, Knox
An athlete to watch at the national Little Athletics titles. Tornatora won the 100m, 200n and 400m state titles at the recent event in Melbourne in under-13s. He will compete in all three events at the nationals.
Kate Wilson, Bendigo
Won the under-15 high jump state title last month in Melbourne in Little Athletics and will compete in the same event at the nationals. She beat her state rivals by 6cm, clearing 1.62m to claim the crown.
Oscar Wright, Nunawading
One of the leading chances for Victoria to get gold at the national Little Athletics titles. Wright won three state titles recently in Melbourne in under-15, claiming the 800m, 1500m and 400m title. He will compete in the same events at the nationals.
