Matrics have issued a huge statement to the league after taking out an electric finals preview clash against Oakdale 59-50.

The goal-for-goal game came right down to the fourth quarter with the final score not giving the intense clash justice.

The potential week one finals preview saw Matrics put pressure on Oakdale quickly and force them wide.

Mid-courters Olivia Nicholls and Ellie Marshall were made to spread the ball and work harder to get the ball down to Oakdale’s shooters.

When they did, goal shooter Asha Thurlow was capitalising while Poppy Gilfillan-Silk complimented her nicely.

Gilfillan-Silk was forced to absorb a barrage of bumps while being made d to play strong both mentally and physically.

The third quarter saw a huge effort from Oakdale interchange player Brianna Gibbs, who kept an on fire defender in Aeleya Turner frustrated in centre court.

While Matrics did snag the lead again briefly for the first time since the first quarter, Oakdale rounded out the period with a one point lead - 42-41.

The fourth quarter needed just one thing - a seasoned touch, and Matrics delivered just that.

Showcasing their previous finals experience, the side put the league on notice, taking over the quarter.

Turner was easily the best defender on the court, with her hustle and pressure having a huge influence on the game.

Her attacking teammate Jessie Woodridge with a similar effect on the other side of the ball.

Matrics will look to get another all-important win and firm up their spot in the top four against Tango in round 14.

Oakdale v Matrics (Reserves)

In the reserves division, Matrics showed exactly why they’ve earned second place on the ladder.

Exploding out of the gates, they grabbed the lead and never looked back.

Coming in with a ‘here to play, here to stay’ mentality, Matrics delivered on both ends of the court.

Long balls into the shooting circle were stunning to watch as goal shooter Elousie Nordhausen-Bradley worked her way up to 44 goals.

A very methodical and clean game from the Matrics saw every single player on the team take to the court with each knowing their role to perfection.

The side have now solidified their spot inside the top four with just one regular season round remaining in the competition.

Two of the top Netball SA Premier League clubs will go head-to-head this Friday in what could be a finals preview.

Second spot Oakdale will look to continue its big year against fourth place Matrics with just two games remaining before this year’s finals series.

While Matrics is currently on a three-game win streak after falling to Contax in round nine, Oakdale will be looking to bounce back from a loss to South Adelaide last week.

Asha Thurlow has been in sensational form for her side, shooting 40 goals last week despite the loss, and will be a major threat on Friday, while young gun Poppy Gilfillan-Silk has continued to impress in the attack and around the court this season.

Matrics was able to grab a strong 68-44 win over Metro Jets last Friday and saw standout performances from versatile leader Lucy Voyvodic around the court and emerging young star Jemma Kelly in the defence.

Both teams are equally matched on paper and could see each other in this year’s finals series, making the clash a must-watch.

A win would go close to guaranteeing a top two finish for Oakdale, while a loss would place it level on points with Matrics heading into the last game before finals.

Matrics sits two wins and percentage above fifth spot South Adelaide but will likely need a win in its last two games to guarantee a finals appearance.
