It’s the simple equation in front of Erindale College as they prepare for the biggest game of the school’s Peter Mulholland Cup season.

Erindale will clash with Pool B heavyweights, the unbeaten Bass High, for a shot at finals football with the match exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV.

If they lose, Kingswood nursery St Dominic’s College will progress to the playoff stages.

It might seem simple, but beating Bass High has been anything but this season.

Bass have been one of the tournament standouts with their mix of raw talent in co-captains Ali Karnib and Matthew Barakat, and the battering ram presence of backrower Pheonix Godinet.

But Erindale College coach Rourke O’Sullivan is confident his team has the toughness to overcome the odds.

“We’re definitely excited,” O’Sullivan said. “Nothing changes for us. It is sticking to the stuff that we have been working on all year. If we do the things we need to do well, that will put us in good stead.

“We are a real tough and connected team. The boys have a really good bond with each other and enjoy each other’s company. That connection and staying strong and working for each other, it is a really big part of our game.”

One player who embodies that Erindale toughness is lock forward Jack Milne.

The Raiders pathways forward will be a key cog in the school’s efforts to overcome the size and strength of the Bass High pack.

“He is a really tough kid and he is what you want in your team as a coach,” O’Sullivan said.

“The boys really respect him and he is one of our leaders. He is a country kid through and through.”

Enigmatic fullback Kruger Roache will also be one to keep an eye on in the contest.

Erindale College has made the Peter Mulholland Cup playoffs for the past two years, but O’Sullivan said it wouldn’t add any more pressure to what is already a high stakes occasion.
