Two clutch saves in a penalty shootout from goalkeeper Gracie Werner has lifted Queensland into the National Futsal Championships Under-15 Girls final.

It also capped off a thrilling day of junior playoffs action at Melbourne’s Parkville Sports Centres.

With scores deadlocked 0-0 after extra-time, the match went to the dreaded spot kicks. Up stepped Werner with two big saves to secure a grand final berth.

Ashley Jones, Akira Booth, Basima Hijazi and Lexi Cooper all converted their penalties for the Queenslanders.

The Maroons will face defending champions NSW Lightning in the grand final on Sunday after it defeated stablemates NSW Thunder 2-1.

Perennial futsal heavyweight states NSW and Queensland enjoyed a brilliant day on the pitches on Saturday, booking their spots in majority of Sunday’s grand finals.

The two traditional rival states will clash in seven grand finals across the junior age groups.

The Sunshine State’s under-15 boys will be determined to cap off an unblemished week with a national title against NSW Metro.

NSW Thunder will be confident they can pull off an Under-13s national title double after both of their sides cruised through to the grand final conceding a combined two goals in four finals showdowns on Saturday.

In the Under-12 boys NSW Lightning will ride a wave of momentum into the final against Queensland Maroon, after causing a semi-finals boilover agaisnt frontunners Capital Football Gold.

State loyalties will be tested on a massive first day of finals action at the National Futsal Championships.

KommunityTV will exclusively live stream every match of the junior finals action on day four of the tournament across five pitches at Melbourne’s Parkville Sports Centres.

State teams have been drawn to play against their own state mates across every division on finals day, with Capital Football’s two Under-12 sides kicking off the friend-against-friend festivities in the first game of the day.

Football NSW Lightning and Thunder will keep it rolling when they go toe-to-toe in the Under-14 boys quarter-finals, while the sky blues will also have two sides battling each other in the Under-13 girls quarter-finals.

Football Queensland Maroon and Football Queensland White will also test the intrastate friendship in the Under-13 girls quarter-finals, before NSW Metro and NSW Country ignite an age-old rivalry in the Under-15 boys semi-finals.

While they might have all worked together in the lead up to the national tournament, don’t expect any side to be taking it easy on their finals rivals just because they have the same patch on the chest.

Football NSW will flood the Under-15 girls quarter-finals in sky blue, with the state getting three teams into the playoff stage with all matches on field two.
