A handball in the box moments before the final whistle set up a tense ending to the U13 Girls Cup clash between Adelaide University Red and Fulham United Red.

Uni scored early in the second half to take the lead and looked to have the win sewn up, that was until the dying seconds when the ball struck a defenders arm and a penalty was called.

However, a spot kick save from the young Uni keeper sealed the cup victory.

There were more goal line heroics in the U17 final.

Flinders United appeared set for victory until a second-half own goal saw the match finish 1-1 at the end of regular time and go straight to penalties.

Adelaide Uni’s keeper made the winning save after a see-sawing shootout.

In the U15 Girls Cup, Adelaide University Red put on a classy display to cruise to a 3-0 victory over Seaford Rangers Blue.

Meanwhile, Pembroke Old Scholars took out the Women’s Division 1/2/3 Cup in a tight 1-0 victory over Seymour Old Collegians.

Regular time and two periods of extra time was not enough to split Hahndorf and Sacred Heart Old Collegians as their Women’s Division 4/5 Cup final went to penalties.

It was SHOC which held its nerve, executing perfectly from the spot to win the shootout 5-4 and the cup.

“Preparation is going pretty well – there are a few nerves and everyone’s pretty excited but we’re also keeping things in perspective,” Lannan said.

“It’s a final but really we see it as the same as every game, we’re not doing anything too different. We just need to focus on what we can execute and control.”

The two clubs matched up against each other in division two of the Women’s Community League last Sunday, with Seymour emerging as a 4-2 victor.

Lannan said her side was not worried about the result and knew what it had to do to win on Friday.

“We’ll take that result with a pinch of salt and continue to prepare for Friday’s match.

“They’re a solid team and we now they’re strong and physical in the middle so we’re going to need to be up to the fight for the full match.

“This will be our fifth final, it’s a bit of a hoodoo so everyone wants to get it done, we’re ready to embrace the pressure and get a result.”
