The Willetton Tigers have edged out Logan Thunder in a monumental struggle to open proceedings on Court 6 for the second day of the Basketball Australia Under-14 Championships.
Only five points separated both boys’ teams at the half as the Tigers and the Thunder went toe to toe in a very evenly poised contest.
Despite Willetton holding sway for most of the contest, the four-point final margin (64-60) reflected the tightness of the encounter, which could have gone either way.

The Kilsyth Cobras have made easy work of the Forestville Eagles in their girls’ contest.
The Cobras always looked the superior outfit as they punched out a comprehensive 64-35 victory in the second match up on Court 6.
The Maffra Eagles will rue being slow out of the gates against the Sturt Sabres in their Court 10 encounter.
Trailing 9-24 at quarter-time, the Eagles remained in the contest throughout but were never able to bridge the gap against the pace-setting Sabres, despite getting within 10 at the main break.
But that was as close as they came as the Sabres pushed out the final margin to 16 points (76-60) in a polished display.
Hornsby Ku Ring Gai Spiders were too powerful for the Tasmania Northern Tigers in the second game.

The Spiders put the foot down in the second half to register a confidence-building 72-41 victory.
Tasmania suffered another disappointing result when the Hills Hornets got the better of the Tasmania Northwest Devils to the tune of 13 points.
The Islanders gave a brave account of themselves, but a solid second half by the Hornets always had them in the box seat as they ran out 67-54 winners.

PREVIEW
Can Logan Thunder wunderkind Taylor Murray keep up his astronomical scoring, or will he be clawed back down to Earth by a hungry Willetton Tigers?
It is one of many questions set to be answered on a big second day of action at the Basketball Australia Under-14 Club Championships.
Murray made an incredible start to the tournament on Sunday, scoring 56 points across two games, as the Thunder made a perfect start in Pool D with wins over Maffra and Sturt.
But the WA top-seeded Tigers also started the tournament on the front foot with a win of their own and will be determined to take down the high-flying Thunder.
The clash will open a big day’s action on court six, which also features not Darwin Cyclones sides, an impressive Keilor Thunder boys side and a Frankston Blues girls side storming into day two off the back of a brilliant opening round win.
Not to be outdone, the action on Court 10 appears to be just as hot as Court 6, with a showdown for the ages in the girls tournament.
Fresh off their under-18s sides taking home the gold in Perth, the Melbourne Tigers girls will be looking to emulate their form on the court.
The Tigers will clash with the South Adelaide Panthers in a massive match-up on Court 10.
Both girls sides are coming off strong wins to open their accounts on day one and will be determined to strengthen their title credentials with a statement win on Monday.
