Norths Bears have kicked off the Under-14 Club Championships in fine fashion, with the NSW top-seed boys picking up two big wins on the opening day in Victoria.
The Bears roared to life on Sunday, and were the talk of the town on Court 5 when they took down Canberra and Cockburn Cougars in consecutive matches.

Tommy Moloney went big in the win over Canberra, bringing in 21 points and backed it up with 11 points against the Cougars.
But he was far from alone on the scoring end with Uriel Clarke and Jordan Gao both hitting double digits in both wins.
South West Metro Pirates scored a big win early on day one, when they downed the Darwin Cyclones, but they couldn’t back up that performance late on court nine, falling to a crisp Bulleen Boomers outfit 90-71.

Bendigo Braves and Melbourne Tigers both started off the girls tournament on the right foot picking up important day one wins, while the same couldn’t be said about the Gold Coast Rollers and Bankstown Bruins girls who were shock losers on Sunday.
The individual performance of the day across Courts 5 and 9 probably belonged to Cyclones young gun Levin Maher who exploded from deep, hitting six three-pointers in a 32-point haul, in a losing effort against the South West Metro Pirates.

Central Coast make their tournament bow on Court 9 against a familiar foe they would do well not to take lightly.
Canberra beat them early in the Junior Premier League season by three points before the Rebels pounced on them in the finals, winning 59-46.
Norths Bears boys went through the 16-game season unbeaten and then knocked over Penrith, Bankstown and Sydney Comets, who are all also in Melbourne this week, in the finals.
They start up against Canberra on Court 5 and then back up at 3.30pm to play WA visitors Cockburn Cougars.
With three-point machine Thomas Maloney, Jordan Gao, Lucas Ajaka and Uriel Clarke, they have players who average over 10 points per game.
Another state champion, Queensland’s South West Metro Pirate, will play twice on Court 5, first up against Darwin Cyclones, then against Bulleen Boomers to close off the day at 5pm.
