The future of hoops is now and KommunityTV will give you the best seat in the house to watch it unfold.

KommunityTV has partnered with Basketball Australia in a ground breaking two-year broadcast deal, further cementing News Corp Australia as your home of hoops coverage.

The partnership will include exclusive live streams of Basketball Australia’s five premier talent pathways tournaments including the Under-20, Under-18 and Under-16 National Championships as well as the Under-14 National Club Championships and Australian Basketball Schools Championships.

KommunityTV will broadcast more than 1000 games over the next two years as part of the partnership, giving basketball fans first look at the future of the sport.

The emerging athletes showcased at the events will be future Boomers and Opals or next generation NBL and WNBL talents, while some will even scale the heights of the world’s best basketball competitions.

With the Summer Olympics in France less than 18 months away, the tournaments will also provide emerging stars with an opportunity to potentially punch a ticket to Paris.

The coverage kicks off next month, with the Under-20 and Ivor Burge National Championships in Geelong from February 14-19.

News Sport Network managing director Michael Wilkins said the partnership with Basketball Australia would grow both the audience and coverage of the code, and continue KTV’s commitment to showcasing the best in junior sport.

“It is exciting to be able to partner with BA to show off the best young talent in one of the fastest growing and most dynamic sports in Australia,” Wilkins said.

“These athletes are the future of the sport. They will light up the NBL and WNBL, and some will even take on the world in the NBA and WNBA like current Australian stars Josh Giddey and Ezi Magbegor.

Basketball Australia CEO Matt Scriven said the partnership would answer the increased demand from fans to see the future of the sport.

“We are delighted to be partnering with KommunityTV to provide a live stream of our five premium National Championship events. The demand to watch our next generation of athletes has increased substantially and this partnership will ensure that basketball fans have access to quality coverage of games.

“The Championships have a rich alumni including Olympians Lauren Jackson, Patty Mills, Jock Landale and Cayla George and some of the most exciting young talent playing in the world today Josh Giddey, Anneli Maley, Dyson Daniels and Jade Melbourne.

“The National Championships are the pathway to representing in the green and gold, and we are very excited to showcase the future of Australian basketball in partnership with News Corp Australia.”
