Caulfield Grammarians produced a remarkable second-half comeback to end Old Geelong’s unbeaten start to the VAFA Premier Legaue on Saturday.
After trailing by two goals at halftime, the Grammarians started to wrestle back momentum in the third quarter and cut the margin to 10 points after a two-goal to one term.
They then made their charge at the 10 minute mark of the final term, thanks to Ebony Angelopoulos.

The Grammarians star was taken high some 15m out from goal, following a forward 50 stoppage, and kicked her second goal of the game to give Caulfield the lead for the first time in the match.
They then withstood repeat inside 50 attacks from Old Geelong, with the game still in the balance heading into the final minute.
But it was a defensive mark inside 50 from Sarah Kenny with 20 seconds on the clock that ended Old Geelong’s hopes for victory and sealed a famous win for Caulfield.
The 5.7 (37) to 5.4 (34) defeat ended Old Geelong’s unbeaten start to 2025 after being promoted from B-Grade to the Premier division.
Caulfield coach Danielle Distefano was proud of her group post-match.
“At halftime, it was just about going back to basics,” Distefano said.
“I couldn’t be more proud of that shift in the way we played and handled the pressure.”

PREVIEW
You can’t fault Old Geelong’s start to the VAFA Premier Women’s season.
After being promoted from B-Grade as the reigning premier, the OGs are 2-0 with wins over West Brunswick and Kew.
Now they’ll take on Caulfield Grammarians, who are also unbeaten, as the season resumes after the Easter long weekend.
The senior and reserves games will be broadcast on KommunityTV from 8.30am on Saturday morning.
What’s remarkable is Old Geelong made a seamless transition into the top tier despite having an injection of new faces into the club.
Among them are Ciara Sexton and Maddy Seeback who have slotted in across halfback.
Sexton, a former VFLW player with Casey, played one VAFA game last season.
Old Geelong coach Jack Crameri said he had been impressed with the pair’s start to the season.
“Ciara’s had a shocking run with injury and she wanted to come back to local level this season,” he said.
“She’s been super along with Maddy, who is a country girl and plays like one. She’s just tough and we love her attack on the footy.”
Others to have made their mark in the early stage of the season include ruck Camilla Taylor who took last season off.
“She’s brilliant,” Crameri said.
“She’s an ex-North Melbourne VFLW player and brings a lot to our team.
“Tessa Longden has had a good start to the year with four goals in the first four games. She has a real presence at full forward.
“Charlotte Mackenzie made her debut against Kew. She’s come to the club from Geelong Grammar where she was the captain last season.
“A lot of the new players come from universities, friend groups or connections to the school, it’s been fantastic to have so many new faces.
“There’s been some positional changes with the existing players. We think we’re going pretty well.”
Crameri said familiar names Annabel Rafferty and league best-and-fairest Brooke McKay had also enjoyed strong starts to the season.
“We knew they were good players at other levels and they’re still really good players at the highest level,” he said.
“Both have been at the club since the women’s team started and they’re getting close to 100 games which would give them life membership.
“We’ll unfurl the flag this weekend between the reserves and seniors games which will be really exciting for the girls.”
