More than 800 young guns are set to don the boots as the Sapsasa Metro and Country Football Carnival takes over the ovals of Barratt Reserve next week.
Officials are confident the 2025 edition will be a showcase of the best of the best as districts from across SA descend on West Beach for the three-day tournament.
A staple on the School Sport SA calendar, the carnival will be the first of a number of Sapsasa events to be streamed live and exclusive on KommunityTV this year.
Kicking off on Monday May 26, 10 games will be broadcast each day from Oval 1 with metro and country teams to feature over the three days.
“The football carnivals are a real highlight on the Sapsasa calendar,” School Sport SA’s Wade Hall said.
“It gives a lot of kids from right across South Australia the chance to come together and show off their football skills, but also build connections in what is sort of a coming of age event for many of them.
“We are expecting a terrific showcase of football but it’s also such a diverse field of teams.
“Some of the districts are really strong and bring quite a high standard and others are more at the other end in building teams and use this to continue to build their skills.”
Hall said live streaming the carnival on KommunityTV showcased the Sapsasa matches to a wider audience, particularly for South Australian’s in country regions.
“It’s a really, really big commitment to travel over to Adelaide to watch their loved ones play,” Hall said.
“So it gives those grandparents, aunties, uncles and sometimes parents that are stuck on the tractor or something, you know, an opportunity to watch their loved ones have a kick.”
Live stream coverage will begin from 9.30am on Monday as teams battle to be crowned champions across four divisions.
