Henley Sharks Blue will be looking to go all the way in division one of the U14 girls this year after the U13 girls lost to Glenunga in last year’s grand final.
They face Tea Tree Gully Red in their first finals test at Eric Sutton Reserve from midday on Sunday.
Glenunga will also be aiming for more success this year, especially in the U12 girls with the Sharks having teams in division one, division four and division five competitions.
Other clubs to look out for on Sunday will be Golden Grove, Plympton, Walkerville and Brighton who all compete in a number of divisions across multiple age groups.
The grand finals will be played on Sunday week, August 24.
The older age groups - U15 to U18 - will play their preliminary finals on August 24 and their grand finals on September 1.
SANFL Juniors competition manager Oliver Graham said this year’s finals would showcase SA’s top young talent.
“There’s certainly plenty of talent within the National Pharmacies SANFL Juniors Competition,” he said.
“We expect many of those involved in our SANFL pathway programs to be showcasing their skillset in the major round. We have balanced the competitions evenly in 2024 which has ensured teams have worked hard until the final round to ensure they qualified for the finals series.
“The atmosphere throughout the entire finals series is an amazing experience for our players, with club supporters coming out in droves to support their next generation of talent. This escalates further during the Grand Finals, where we are fortunate to play our matches on SANFL venues, giving all competing players a memorable experience.
“It is amazing to see 75 percent of our competition having at least one team participating in the finals this season and the spread of representation gives a great indication of the depth of talent we have and highlights the amazing job our volunteers do in retaining players through the pathway by creating a positive environment.”
