Live stream: Young SA footy stars set to shine under SANFL’s three-year deal with KommunityTV

South Australia’s young footy stars will be the focus of a new live stream deal between the SANFL and KommunityTV for season 2024 and beyond. Check out which games are covered this year.

SA’s football stars of the future will be showcased LIVE nationwide under an exclusive three-year deal between News Corp and SANFL.

And it all begins on Sunday, May 12 with the SA U18 state team’s first hitout against a combined Greater Western Sydney and Sydney Swans academy team at Thebarton Oval.

While the SANFL Talent pathways will certainly be a significant focus in the deal, there are other matches to enjoy as well, with the National Pharmacies SANFL Juniors set to enjoy a three-week finals star turn.

May will be a busy month with the SA U18 Boys v SA U20s clash something to savour. That will be followed by the SANFL U15 Boys Youth Intra-state Carnival in the July and October school holidays.

The exclusive coverage will also extend across female elite youth talent in 2024, featuring a live stream of the SA U18 girls team versus the SA U23 representative state team.

The U18 girls will be on the hunt for their third consecutive national title win, having claimed the AFL National Championships in 2022 and 2023.

And the coverage doesn’t stop there, with the preliminary finals and every grand final across all age groups set to be streamed from the SANFL juniors in September as local guns aim for SANFL talent pathway spots in 2025.

The deal will give viewers the chance to watch future stars such as Adelaide Crows father-son prospect Tyler Welsh and Central District midfield phenom Dyson Sharp in action as they take another step towards their AFL dreams.

On the girls side, 2023 SA U18 MVP India Rasheed, Bulldogs prospect Georgia McKee and Glenelg defender Poppy Scholz will also be ones to watch.

SANFL chief Darren Chandler said the News Corp digital streaming partnership had provided a new level of reach and exposure for SANFL’s teenage stars.

“On the back of the success of last year’s streaming partnership between SANFL and KommunityTV, we are thrilled to once again have the opportunity to showcase the state’s best under-age players to the nation,” Chandler said.

“In addition, we will have over 80 National Pharmacies SANFL Juniors finals streamed over two weekends in August/September, providing outstanding exposure for community clubs and partners.”

News Sport Network managing director Michael Wilkins said KommunityTV was excited to partner with the SANFL to promote the future stars of the game.

“After a successful partnership which shone a light on the best up-and-coming juniors in South Australia last season, we’re pleased to be adding to that coverage again in 2024,” Wilkins said.

“While our cameras will still capture the best new talent in the SANFL junior finals series later this year, as well as the final preparation for South Australia’s U18s nationals squad, we will also give footy fans a glimpse of future AFLW stars from the region.

“The inclusion of the girls U18 intrastate clash with the SA U23 women’s side will provide opportunity for footy fans across South Australia and beyond to connect with the next generation of talent.

“South Australia has a proud production line of quality Aussie rules players and KommunityTV can’t wait to shine a spotlight on the competitions that are fostering them.”
