It is the ninth-straight state title for the Henley side, who beat Adelaide High in the final last year.
It also marked Henley High’s 22nd state title in the 50-year history of the School Sport SA competition, cementing their place as the most dominant public school team in the state.
Henley kicked their opening goal of the grand final within the first minute of action, giving an ominous sign of what was to come for grand final rivals Adelaide.
Adelaide High rose to the occasion though, nailing two first quarter goals to keep themselves within striking distance of their rivals at the opening break.
But Henley did all the damage either side of halftime, kicking eight goals to one across the second and third quarter as they pushed their lead past 50 points heading into the final break.
The reigning champions weren’t finished there, booting an impressive four goals in the final term to bring up the century and solidify themselves as the number one school in the state.
DIVISION 2 BOYS GRAND FINAL
St Mark’s College have survived an almighty scare to be crowned School Sport SA Division 2 champions.
The Port Pirie school booted two goals in the final quarter to hold off a valiant Seda College 11.10 (76) to 10.7 (67) in the decider.
Seda College v St Mark’s College (Div 2 grand final)
St Mark’s started the contest at a breakneck speed, kicking three-unanswered goals in the opening quarter to stretch their lead to 20 points at the first break.
But the wheels came spinning off in the second quarter as Seda College worked overtime in the midfield and got the upper hand at the bounce to claw back their impressive rivals.
Seda even found their way into the lead briefly in the second quarter, going ahead by three points before a St Mark’s goal on the stroke of halftime cut that lead short.
That would be the first and only time Seda College hit the lead, with St Mark’s keeping their rivals at arm’s length throughout the second half, working overtime on the defensive end to shutdown any Seda attacking raids.
DIVISION 3 BOYS
Berri Regional SC v Kapunda HS (Div 3 grand final)
Kapunda High School pulled off an incredible come from behind win, overturning a six-point halftime deficit to take down Berri Regional Secondary College 5.10 (40) to 4.10 (34) in the Division 3 grand final.
Both sides would be left to rue their poor accuracy on goal, but in the end it was Kapunda which made the most of their chances, kicking three goals and seven behinds in the second half to complete a stirring comeback victory.

Division 1 contenders Henley High and Adelaide High will clash in a repeat of last year’s grand final on Thursday with Adelaide High determined to overturn last year’s 91-point grand final thumping.
But before the two behemoths of school’s footy collide, it will be the Division 2 and Division 3 finals on Wednesday at Thebarton Oval.
Berri Regional Secondary College, led by West Adelaide U18s captain Ayden Hodgson, will attempt to win its first flag when it clashes with Kapunda High School in the Division 3 decider at 10.30am.
Coach Adam Langford, a past student at Kapunda High School, said the side was excited ahead of the big game.
“The excitement is really high,” Langford said.
“As a school we haven’t been part of a grand final since 2012 and the fact we’re playing my old school is a bit full circle - I’ve been able to fire the boys up a bit with that.”
Made up of a number of local Riverland clubs, the school’s side has been dominant this year on its way to the grand final.
Langford believed he had the right team to go all the way.
“We’ve done a handful of trainings in preparation for the game and we feel like we’ve prepped and merged well,” he said.
“They’re a perfect bunch of guys and we’ve got a nice even spread of quality across the team.
“I think the key is going to be getting off to a strong start and building from there.
“It would mean a lot to us to be able to grab the win and give the team, which is mostly year 12s, the chance to celebrate.”
The division three matchup will be followed by SEDA College and St Mark’s College in the division two big dance at 12.30pm.
