Victorian filly Invincible Woman still on track for $3m Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast

A rain delay is unlikely to affect Victorian filly Invincible Woman’s chances of victory in Friday night’s $3m Gold Coast Magic Millions Classic.

Waiting another few days won’t derail Melbourne filly Invincible Woman’s chances in Friday night’s $3m Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast.

Heavy rain forced stewards to defer the majority of the Magic Millions meeting from last Saturday, giving trainers the task of keeping their charges at their top for another few days.

Lloyd Kennewell, who trains Invincible Woman in partnership with Lucy Yeomans, said the filly was easy to maintain until Friday night.

“It’s the same for the rest of them as well,” Kennewell said.

“It’s only one week so it’s not going to change things too much. She’s fine.

“She did a little piece of work on Monday morning and that was just to keep her ticking over.

“She’s still doing very well.”

Strong betting support pushed Invincible Woman to be the $6 equal second favourite in betting on the Gold Coast’s two-year-old showpiece.

Invincible Woman qualified for the $3m race with her dominant debut win in the $250,000 Magic Millions Classic at Caulfield last month.

Kennewell said the two-year-old was a true professional, knowing when it was time for business.

“She’s pretty cruisy,” Kennewell said.

“She gets a little bit hot but she knows what she is there for and what her job is.

“She has always trialled up well and raced well and that’s all you can ask.”

Winning the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast would be the perfect advertisement for Kennewell and Yeomans’ business model.

Kennewell said the stable would love to continue its strong start to the two-year-old season.

“We’ve had four pre-Christmas two-year-old runners for two wins and two thirds so it’s going well,” he said.

“I like the two-year-old runners so getting the two-year-olds out there is what it’s all about for us.”

Kennewell said he and Yeomans had not looked beyond Friday night’s assignment for Invincible Woman.

However, he said Invincible Woman was a chance to continue her campaign towards possibly either the Blue Diamond Stakes or Golden Slipper.

“We’ve paid up for everything but it’s one run at a time,” Kennewell said.

“You’ve got to get through Friday before you work out anything else.

“You pay up for everything and just work it out as you’re going along.

“If they’re showing signs they want to train on and keep going, then you keep going. If not, you just stop with them.”
