Supporting races for Caulfield Cup announced

The supporting nine races to the Caulfield Cup have been declared and announced.

The field and barrier draw for the Caulfield Cup was published on Tuesday.

Eight of the nine support races on Saturday are black-type events and there are a total of 127 acceptors across the 10 race card.

The weather could play a role in the lead up to Saturday with rain forecast on Thursday and Friday but for more accurate information, scroll down to the bottom of the story where the track and weather information is listed.

The supporting Group races on Saturday are the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m), Group 2 Millenium Sprint (1000m), Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m), Group 3 Sportsbet Caulfield Classic (2000m), Group 3 Ethereal Stakes (2000m) and the Group 3 Moonga Stakes (1400m).

The other black-type races are the Listed Gothic Stakes (1400m) and the Listed Alinghi Stakes (1100m).

The Caulfield track was rated a good (4) at acceptance time. The rail will be in the 3-metre position on Saturday.

Saturday’s 10-race program commences at 12.40pm with the final event to be run at 5.40pm.
