Lady Sadler on trial for trip to Queensland winter carnival at Flemington on Friday
Time prevented Andrew Noblet from getting Lady Sadler to a Group 1 feature in Adelaide but he could look interstate for other targets if the filly performs to expectations at Flemington.

Time ran out for an Adelaide trip but emerging filly Lady Sadler could still hit the road if she performs strongly at Friday’s Flemington meeting.
Lady Sadler will tackle The Les Carlyon at her sixth start, but the three-year-old has sufficiently impressed trainer Andrew Noblet to suggest she could measure up to stakes races interstate.

Noblet said he initially had a Group 1 aim for Lady Sadler in the autumn but he was forced to look towards a possible winter trip north.
“She’s very much a time filly,” Noblet said.
“She’s a lovely horse and I wanted to get her to Adelaide for the Oaks on Saturday but we just ran out of time.
“She just needed more time in the paddock so we’ll see where she ends up.
“She could go up to Brisbane, that’s an option.”
• What’s in a name? Plenty of history … and unwanted pressure
Lady Sadler has had one start this time in for a third in a small field at Sandown earlier this month.
Noblet said the Omaha Beach filly pleased connections with her effort when finishing 1¾ lengths from the all-the-way winner Sirena.
“She went well first-up,” Noblet said.
“She had no hope once the leader slowed up but it was a good effort.
“She’s going great and I really like her.
“It’s a deep race at Flemington but she’s drawn well and makes her own luck so I’ll be disappointed if she didn’t run well again.”
• Mother Nature no friend to The Valley track
Lady Sadler is a $9 chance in early betting on The Les Carlyon while Noblet’s other Flemington runner, Roadie, is a $46 chance to win the WGCDR Ian Bayles Handicap (1800m).
Roadie had steadily built fitness in three autumn runs, running a narrow second at Ballarat at her latest appearance.
Noblet said Roadie was ready to show the form that led her three wins in four starts last winter.
“She’s been a victim of circumstances a bit,” Noblet said.
“She’s hitting the mark at the right time. She’s done all the groundwork and she’s fit and well.”
