JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
Zac Lloyd has some nice rides and looks a chance in the TAB Jockey Challenge.
RACE 1: 2yo Maiden Handicap (1300m)
NAVY PILOT (5) went back to last from a wide gate and ran home well when fifth behind stablemate Stormland over 1000m on the Kensington. Will appreciate the step up to 1300m. Also entered for the Group 1 Sires’ on Saturday. KATSUMI OROCHI (1) ran a good race at big odds when third to Field Of Play and Devil Night on the colts and geldings Blue Diamond Prelude. GAELIGE (2) battled away when second to Kilman first-up before a third to the promising Buffalo.
BET: NAVY PILOT (5) to win.
RACE 2: 3yo Maiden Plate (1300m)
SIESTA (10) raced well in her first prep with three seconds in Victoria. No luck first-up in her Sydney debut when wide without cover to finish a length third to Happy Bellie on the Kensington on Mar 13. ENGINE ROOM (1) battled away for a handy fourth to Manos on debut here on Oct 16 before a solid neck second to Snitzanova on the Kensington two weeks later. Closed nicely in his recent trial here. NOW IS THE HOUR (3) has run well in both runs back from a spell.
BET: SIESTA (10) to win.
MODELLA (12) was a nice second to Believe In Angels on debut here on Jan 8 on a Soft 7 before a smart win at Kembla. Wasn’t pushed on her Mar 21 trial here. CALIFORNIA SUNRISE (9) followed a first-up Hawkesbury Super Maiden win with four placings last campaign including a close second to Mountain Top at Canterbury. Nice win in his Mar 6 Rosehill trial from Elettrica. LINWOOD (8) came from well back along the rails to score on debut on a Heavy 9 here last July.
BET: MODELLA (12) to win.
IMPOSING PIER (7) followed his second Kembla win for the preparation with a fourth behind Flying Thinker at Rosehill when 2/5 lame. Just pipped by Swelter at Hawkesbury last start. SIGIRIYA ROCK (10) was very good in his first campaign in Victoria with a Caulfield 1600m win and four seconds. Was a little disappointing first-up at Wyong over 1350m but was caught wide early. Can bounce back up to the 1600m. SISTERHOOD (12) ran a handy fourth behind Art Volant over 1400m here last start. Can run another cheeky race from a nice draw.
BET: IMPOSING PIER (7) each-way.
MAWJOOD (7) was a handy second to Flying Thinker at Rosehill second-up before sitting outside the leader and coming away to score by over a length from Campaldino on the Kensington. Hard to beat again. LITTLE BEGINNINGS (1) is knocking on the door after three consecutive second placings. Beaten a head by Junqueira at Canterbury and a long head behind Osman in the Mudgee Cup. Sat outside Edited by at Wyong last start and tried hard. POPPIN’ CHAMPAGNE (5) won first-up last campaign over this trip.
BET: MAWJOOD (7) to win.
LINCOLN ROCKS (1) turned in an eye-catching run coming from last to finish a length third behind King Of Thunder over 1900m second-up at Rosehill on Mar 15. Has won five races with four of them at 2050m and beyond including over 2200m. BE REAL (4) drops back from Group 3 company when fourth to Little Baia over 1600m in the Aspiration and fourth to Mare Of Mt Buller over 1900m in the Epona. Steps up to 2200m for the first time. MARAMA (8) is a William Haggas-trained mare who has a win over 2100m. Respect.
BET: LINCOLN ROCKS (1) each-way.
PERSPIRATION (3) is a promising three-year-old resuming against the older horses. Only unplaced run was on a Good 4 in the San Domenico when sixth to Storm Boy. Bounced back to win the Listed Heritage from Gatsby’s on a Soft 6. Zealously won three in-a-row including one at Canterbury before a fourth to Private Harry in the Sunlight at the Sunshine Coast. Closed nicely to win his Mar 28 Randwick trial. Confess Our Dreams raced keenly when ninth in the Wenona Girl first-up. Can bounce back.
BET: PERSPIRATION (3) to win.
RACE 8: Fillies & Mares Benchmark 72 (1400m)
HEAT MISSILE (15) was good in her two Victorian runs last prep and made her Sydney debut with a good win from Broadway Follies over 1200m at Kembla. Drawn wide but likely to come in a few barriers. GOOD SORT (10) settled back before working home well for third to Scintilla first-up this track and distance before a tenth to Verona Rose in the Group 3 Kembla Grange Classic after racing a little keenly. PINITO (16) followed a first-up third to Battle Hymn at Canterbury with a nose second to Amreekiyah at Newcastle over this trip.
BET: HEAT MISSILE (15) to win.
