WELLINGTON TIPS

BEST BET
Race 5 No.6 OUTBACK CRUMPET
Boasts superior form to his rivals in terms of depth and the mile is his ‘go’.

NEXT BEST
Race 9 No.9 FANTASY CROWNED
The Palazzo Prince/Joiselle form reads well for him, third-up now.

VALUE
Race 4 No.9 THE GIT UP
Placed four from eight, often in some rather strong country maidens.

QUADDIE
Race 6: 1,2,4,13
Race 7: 1,2,13
Race 8: 2,3,4,10
Race 9: 9

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
Jake Pracey-Holmes is our pick for the TAB Jockeys Challenge (before scratchings).

WELLINGTON INSIDE MAIL

RACE 6: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000m)
OCTAVIAN TREASURE (2) accepted for Kempsey but drew 11 there as compared to barrier 4 at Wellington with Jean Van Overmeire (JVO) booked to ride. Has one win and four seconds from eight starts, most of them in pretty good company. ONE MORE THING (13) has raced on Heavy tracks at his last three and done well but keep in mind his win was a Soft 5 over this trip too. LEGOLAS (1) ran third to Lonhro’s Queen three starts back and has been good in the next two.
BET: Octavian Treasure to win or if scratched One More Thing each-way.

RACE 7: BENCHMARK 58 (1100m)
ULTRA WHITE (13) was $15 into $11 first-up at Dubbo but was never in the call. She had trialled well prior to that and even though she has only won twice in 31 starts, she is fairly reliable. THAT’S BETTER (2) will be happy to see the back of all those Heavy tracks this winter. We are into the Soft 6 range now and chances are improving all the time. KEEP ON GOING (1) can’t draw an alley but could figure on his old form.
BET: Ultra White each-way, quinella 2,13 Daily Double 1st Leg (13), 2nd Leg (9).

RACE 8: BENCHMARK 58 (1100m)
PRESS FORWARD (2) has raced twice at this track and distance for a win and his best form, more or less, is at this same trip and also on Slow tracks rather than too firm or too heavy. KORA MAGIC (10) has two wins from 33 starts but has placed 16 times, 12 of them seconds. Her on-pace pattern accounts for her outstanding record here at Wellington and with box one and JVO, she’s a huge player!
BET: Press Forward each-way, quinella 2,10, trifecta 2,3,4,10 (boxed).

RACE 9: BENCHMARK 58 (1400m)
FANTASY CROWNED (9) led all the way when he won (at Dubbo) so hopefully from barrier 3, he can get out and running and will given them all some to chase. Does have form around the likes of Palazzo Prince and Joiselle. BADBOY MCCOY (10) raises the bat of 50 starts on Monday, the Jan Bowen trained gelding won his 48 start, first-up, and as for the run after – maybe he was looking for more ground which he gets here and now. BLISS (3) is likely to be right up on the speed.
BET: Fantasy Crowned each-way, Badboy McCoy to place.

KEMPSEY TIPS

BEST BET
Race 2 No.4 NO TACKLE
Runner-up at the track/distance at his only prior visit. Ideally drawn.

NEXT BEST
Race 7 No.3 LORD AKOMEED
Consistent, on-pace type, last start winner gets 2kg off after the claim.

VALUE
Race 4 No.10 MALLEE BOY EXPRESS
Is one-for-one at Kempsey and getting close again.

KEMPSEY INSIDE MAIL

RACE 4: BENCHMARK 66 (1450m)
MALLEE BOY EXPRESS (10) is an infinitely better house than his Benchmark rating of 49 would suggest. The Donna Grisedale-trained gelding has only won three times in 32 starts but he has placed on 11 occasions and perhaps more pertinently, he is one-for-one at Kempsey. Tasmanian-bred TOUGH CASE (3) is a nine-year-old on the cusp of his 70th start but Jeremy Sylvester has him racing as well as ever, maybe even better than ever. GOBBLED (4) can figure.
BET: Mallee Boy Express each-way, quinella 3,10.

RACE 5: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000m)
OCTAVIAN TREASURE (1) has drawn 11 here and has the option of going to Wellington instead. Big chance wherever he goes. STIORRA (6) has only managed one win from 15 starts so far but that win came as recently as three starts ago and better still, she led all the way and won by three. BEAR’S A STAR (4) has another wide draw to overcome but he has run well in two good quality races to start this prep. GIVE IT A NUDGE (7) has raced well at Kempsey before.
BET: Octavian Treasure to win or of scratched Bear’s A Star to win.

RACE 6: BENCHMARK 58 (1000m)
MISS ARIZONA (9) is trained by Neil Godbolt who won the Mona Lisa Plate exactly 27 years and one day ago with a mare named Jade Tiara, whose first foal was none other than Silent Witness. As for Miss Arizona, she hasn’t won in a while and doesn’t win often but she is invariably close-up. POITA (1) is slow early but fast late. If they overdo it up front, he could be the one to have last say. ADAMDEEANT (3) and BLACK ALEXANDRA (2) are winning hopes.
BET: Miss Arizona each-way.

RACE 7: CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1250m)
LORD AKOMEED (3) is another of the Neil Godbolt-trained, Kempsey-bound runners on Monday, all of whom are to be ridden by the talented apprentice Madeline Owen. Lord Akomeed is a very, very consistent horse. He was rewarded for his efforts with a second career win last start at Taree with Owen on. Interesting to see if KEVIN MCKEEN (2) turns up here given he has been nominated for two races at his home track at Coffs on Thursday. Won his maiden here and won first-up too, all in three starts.
BET: Lord Akomeed to win.
