Trainer Trent Busuttin will resist the temptation to give Immediacy a crack at Saturday’s Group 1 $1m Randwick Guineas (1600m) but believes his unbeaten gelding remains on track for a pair of Sydney majors in the coming weeks.
Immediacy is a $15 chance in TAB ‘all-in’ betting for the Royal Randwick mile, however, Busuttin says his stable will stick to a plan to bypass the race and target the Group 1 $750,000 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) later this month.
A date with the Group 1 $2m Australian Derby (2400m) at Royal Randwick also remains a top priority for the stable.
Immediacy announced himself as an exciting staying prospect of the future when the promising gelding followed up wins at Cranbourne and Sandown Hillside with a commanding three length win in the Group 2 Autumn Classic (1800m) at Caulfield last month.
The son of Tarzino will be given his chance to make a significant splash during the Sydney Autumn Carnival but punters will have to wait until later this month to see him.

“It’s only a month between runs into the Rosehill Guineas and his last run was five weeks between runs over 1800m,” Busuttin, who trains alongside Natalie Young, said.
“We threw in a run for the Randwick Guineas and while I wouldn’t say he couldn’t win, I think the Rosehill Guineas, a Group 1 over 2000m, is probably everything he is looking for.
“We are learning about the horse all the time but we went five weeks between runs last time and he didn’t have the jump out and did everything with ease.”
A small but select field is expected for the Randwick Guineas at Royal Randwick this week with three-time Group 1 winner Militarize an outright $2.50 favourite.
Celestial Legend ($3.50), Encap ($8) and Tom Kitten ($6) will all line up as part of the three-year-old field.
The Everest winner Think About It will be a hot favourite when the final field for the Group 1 $750,000 Canterbury Stakes is revealed on Wednesday morning.
