Trainer Gary Colvin believes he’s found his next Another One – and he’s having visions of another Country Championships following Cambar’s latest success at Rosehill Gardens.
Colvin won the 2022 Country Championships with Another One and believes his latest star has the talent to scale similar heights next year.
Cambar came to Sydney with an unbeaten record before extending his winning streak to three with a sustained effort to salute in the TAB Highway Class 2 Handicap (1100m).

“I think this horse is up there with Another One,” Colvin said.
“This bloke his probably a different sort of horse.
“Another One wants the 1400m to a mile where this bloke 1400m might see him out.”
Cambar won his first two starts at Wagga last preparation before being given the chance in town.

The son of Pierata got a perfect steer from jockey Tim Clark, who landed one off the fence and just off the speed.
Cambar ($3.40 favourite) wound up strongly in the straight to wear down the brave Cassandra Stummer-trained Miss Rebel ($8.50) and score by a head with Matthew Dunn’s Spiritchaser ($5.50) a further length away.
“He has hit the line well and you like to see horses hit the line like that,” Colvin said.
“I don’t know if we will give him another run, we just have to sort things out now.
“We could give him a bit of break and give him a couple of runs before (the Country Championships).
“He is a nice little horse and it was good to see him travel.”
Clark believes a Country Championships assault wouldn’t be beyond Cambar.
“I think he is a horse that has nice talent and will keep getting better as he does a bit more racing,” he said.
“I am sure Gary has got some good plans for him.
“He will run 1400m, even though he is a colt, he’s got a great attitude.”
