A massive crowd at Royal Randwick was hushed on Saturday when last year's The Everest winner, Think About It, fell as the horses rounded the home turn in today’s Group 3 Sydney Stakes (1200m).

Think About It, a multiple Group 1 winner who was an emergency for this year’s The Everest, was wide on the turn and stumbled before jockey Jason Collett was dislodged.

The horse, which had a bleeding attack, then fell to the turf as the Bjorn Baker-trained Overpass went for home, beating Think About It’s stablemate Coal Crusher and Manikato Stakes winner Southport Tycoon.

What the jockeys said: The Everest Day 2024

After being attended to by race day officials, Think About It regained his feet and was walked back to his race day stall.

In video captured by Racenet’s Adam Dobbin, fans are heard cheering Think About It as he makes his way off the track.

After being dislodged, Collett went straight to the aid of the star sprinter and admitted he was amazed that the horse regained his feet after initially fearing Think About It had sustained a catastrophic injury.

“I’m OK and amazingly the horse has walked back to the stalls,” Collett said.

“They don’t do that.

“I thought he’d broken down but he’s bled out.”

Racing NSW stewards confirmed the bleeding attack.

“Think About It, which collapsed in Race 6 due to a bleeding attack, has recovered and is under veterinary care,” stewards said on X, formerly Twitter.

“(Jockey Jason) Collett was uninjured in the incident and has been cleared to fulfil his riding engagements.”
