FIVE TO FOLLOW
CRAIG (2nd, R3)
Not Robinson Crusoe here as Craig should be in every black book in Australia after a slashing effort at Flemington. Spotted the leader and winner RISE AT DAWN about five lengths at the 200m and missed by a lip. A certainty beaten had he not been held up for about 150m earlier in the straight. Expect to see Craig back at Flemington in a fortnight.
ð Rise At Dawn hangs on by the barest of margins in an unbelievable finish to the RDAV Mary Longden Mile.

MILFORD (4th, R6)
Sick watch for supporters. Absolutely trucked into the straight but nowhere to go behind a wall of horses. Saw some daylight late and sprinted sharply to be in photo finish for third. Milford has returned in great shape and should be winning again soon.

ELECTRIC IMPULSE (4th, R2)
Hemmed away next to last on straightening and only got into the clear inside the last 300m. Found the line nicely third-up last Saturday to be in a blanket finish for the minor placings. Entitled to run second than fourth with a clear passage earlier in the straight. Should be competitive next start in similar grade.
Fancify absolutely dominates the field, leading all the way to take out the RDA Horsham Jan Croser Plate.

QUEEN TAKES KING (3rd, R4)
All eyes were on the other grey, the stablemate BERKSHIRE BREEZE, who trotted up dominantly but Queen Takes King should get her chance next start in a similar 2500m contest. The lightly-raced seven-year-old was only third up last Saturday.

HE’S OUR BONNEVAL (4th, R8)
Deep in campaign but would only need to hold form to notch another win. Poised to strike last Saturday but luckless over the concluding stages, held up for most of the straight. WATADEEL only second up and should improve markedly. Forced to settle last from the wide draw and saved ground around the bend. Peaked on run.

FORGIVE
CARBONADOS (unplaced, R7)
Forget he went around. Never looked comfortable and then tightened for room when under pressure at a crucial stage approaching the 300m. Much better than last Saturday’s performance. A post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage.
STEEL RUN (unplaced, R5)
Lost no admirers here. Ended up too far back in the run after being slow into stride. Got on the back of eventual runner-up COTTON TREE on straightening but not quite able to quicken as sharply to stay in touch. Let down smartly once balanced up and best work late. Only third ever race start so all upside.

TRACK TALK
“I didn’t really have a (banner) horse, hopefully I’m able to stay on this bloke and see if he can take me deep into the spring.”
Jockey Ethan Brown keen to stay aboard impressive Flemington winner BERKSHIRE BREEZE.
“He came back after his last start and had a real temper, he was angry ever since so I took it like he was ready to win and certainly his work during the week suggested he was ready to put his and up and remind people who he is.”
Trainer Liam Howley pleased to get the result with VIRTUOUS CIRCLE.
“I had to one up him since he one upped me so we’re even now.”
Apprentice jockey Celine Gaudray, rider of Race 9 winner VELOCE CARRO, happy to beat her partner Ethan Brown aboard runner-up PIONEER RIVER. Both finished with doubles on the Flemington card.
CRUNCH TIME
MARS MISSION (3rd, R9)
Overall fastest last 800m sectional (44.40 sec) last Saturday at Flemington to charge into third behind VELOCE CARRO and PIONEER RIVER in the 1200m Benchmark 84. Last 200m (11.71 sec) the 11th quickest on the day. Only three runs under the belt, first two in Sydney, so should improve and be hard to beat next start.
HE’S OUR BONNEVAL (4th, R8)
Entitled to run on as ELOUYOU, ridden by Damian Lane, coasted through the first 800m 10 lengths slower than standard comparison time, but He’s Our Bonneval finished off the best with the fastest last 600m (32.93 sec), 400m (21.63 sec) and 200m (11 sec) sectionals for the entire card.
RIGHT TO PARTY (1st, R7)
Recorded the fastest average speed for the meeting 62.14kph to win the 1100m Quality Handicap.
STEWARDS SAY
Jockeys DECLAN BATES and JYE McNEIL reprimanded for careless riding in Race 7.
Bates, rider of NAMESAKE, and McNeil, on RIGHT TO PARTY, shifted in and out respectively to obtain runs, which caused interference to CARBONADOS, under pressure from the 300m mark.
Jockey Damian Lane reported beaten favourite QUANTUM CAT travelled well but failed to run on. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
