AN Adelaide greyhound trainer has been disqualified after his dog was found with amphetamines in its system following a race win at Gawler last year.
Todd Kelly was disqualified for 15 months and fined $5000 by Greyhound Racing SA stewards after It’s No Myth’s post-race urine sample showed the presence of amphetamines.
Stewards took a sample from the dog after it won a maiden race at Gawler on October 6 last year.
A second reserve portion of the sample was also tested and confirmed the presence of the drug.
Kelly was charged with not presenting a greyhound free from any prohibited substance.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge but stewards found him guilty on Monday. It’s No Myth was also stripped of the race win.
It’s not the first time Kelly has fallen foul with racing stewards, after he was disqualified for six months and fined $2000 back in 2014.
Kelly was found guilty under the same rule for failing to present a dog free of a prohibited substance when two of his greyhounds recorded high levels of testosterone.
Kelly has been advised of his rights of appeal.
GRSA stewards also suspended trainer Amanda Darmanin’s licence for one month and fined her $350 after she left three greyhounds unattended oncourse in a trailer after a meeting at Mount Gambier in January.
Darmanin pleaded guilty to the charge.
