Rory McIlroy has called off his divorce.
The golf superstar, who previously filed for divorce from his wife, Eric Stoll, in May has seemingly changed his mind and filed a notice of voluntary dismissal in Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday, ending the divorce plans, The New York Post reports.
McIlroy confirmed the news when speaking to the Guardian, saying that the “rumours” around the couple since May have been “unfortunate” and that he had not directly responded to reports about his then-impending divorce because it would have been a “fool’s game” to do so.
“Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realised that our best future was as a family together,” McIlroy told the Guardian.

“Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
It emerged last week Stoll had missed a critical deadline to submit documents in a development that would have allowed McIlroy to proceed with the divorce without Stoll participating in the proceedings.
Stoll was served the divorce papers at her Florida home on May 13, days before the PGA Championship.
In the court filing last month, McIlroy labelled the marriage as “irretrievably broken”.
Documents showed the pair had a pre-nuptial agreement and had both filed for joint custody of their three-year-old daughter Poppy.
Rumours earlier claimed McIlroy had been privately seeing CBS golf presenter Amanda Balionis since the separation. However, that was denied in contrasting reports that claimed McIlroy’s relationship with Balionis was strictly professional.
Days after the divorce papers were filed, Stoll was seen last month out in public without her wedding ring.
Mcilroy showed no sign of the changes in his personal life when he spoke with reporters on Tuesday ahead of the US Open at Pinehurst, which begins on Thursday.
World number three McIlroy, who has not won a major since the 2014 PGA Championship, has 20 top-10 major results since that decade-old triumph and is confident this could be his week on the North Carolina golf course.
