Bryson DeChambeau nails the almost impossible golfing feat and sends online world crazy

Bryson DeChambeau’s round with president elect Donald Trump sent golf into raptures, but the two-time US Open champion has gone one better.

Bryson sinks ABSURD hole-in-one

Of all the people who got shout outs during Donald Trump’s open mic on election night, from Elon Musk to Joe Rogan to a bunch of podcasters, one caught the attention of the sporting world: a professional golfer.

Bryson DeChambeau had filmed a YouTube video with the President-elect only a few weeks earlier, and scored a special invite on stage to his election party in Florida.

In the YouTube clip, when Trump, with his on-brand unique putting style, sunk a long snaking roll on the last hole, DeChambeau fell to the floor in fits of laughter.

It wasn’t even the most viral moment of his last month.

Instead, the two-time major winner and one of the richest golfers on the planet has had the online world riveted by his latest attempt at entertainment: trying to make a hole-in-one over his luxury Dallas mansion onto a custom-built putting green.

The glass panels DeChambeau hits over would be a nightmare for ordinary hackers.

But with world-class precision, the 31-year-old has spent the past fortnight trying to land the elusive ace with a wedge, and the uploading his attempts and reactions to Instagram.

The premise was simple: on each day he would have the same number of attempts as the day of the challenge. On day one, he had one shot and so on.

On day 16, he finally managed the feat after clearing his house and waiting for news the ball had trickled into the hole, sparking a wild celebration where he sprinted around the luxury pad to check it had actually gone in.

In all it took DeChambeau 134 attempts to land the hole-in-one over his house.

“Straight up, it’s the first thing I watch when I wake up,” American professional Harry Higgs said. “Seeing people recreate the video on their house, simulators, good on them. It’s super entertaining.

“Thanksgiving for us will be tomorrow, I thought he’d have it done by then. It really is (entertaining).

“Kudos to Bryson, he is if not nothing else an entertainer. But he’s just not that. He’s a world class golfer.”

DeChambeau won his second US Open this year after a gripping duel with Rory McIlroy and has been one of the poster boys for LIV Golf, heading up his own franchise, Crushers GC.

“He’s got people talking about it and he’s hitting some good shots actually,” Australian Marc Leishman said of the hole-in-one challenge. “He’s had a lot of chances. It’s pretty cool.

“He’s definitely turned into a real character. I think he’s really embraced being a role model for kids. Maybe at the start he didn’t quite understand that, but now he does.”
