GLENELG has thrown its support behind the plight of drought-stricken farmers and dedicated the clash against Sturt at the Bay on Sunday to the cause.

The Tigers, who contain South-East products such as Brad McCarthy and Brad Close, will be raising funds for farmers in desperate need and fans can donate to the “Buy a Bale” program.

Despite being out of the race for the finals, the Tigers are coming off five successive wins and will challenge second-placed Double Blues with confidence.

The Double Blues will be seeking a strong performance in preparation for the qualifying final battle against Woodville-West Torrens at Adelaide Oval next Sunday.

West Adelaide star Jason Porplyzia, struck down by knee problems which prompted his decision to retire, will make his final appearance when the Bloods host Adelaide at Richmond Oval.

“He is not just a great footballer, he is a great bloke,” Bloods football manager Andrew Marks said. “It is not only Bloods fans who should get to the game to give him an appropriate send off, but also Crows supporters given he had a fantastic career with Adelaide.”

Bloods ruckman Daniel Webb is also playing his final game for the club.

Norwood will chase a 14th successive win when it takes on South Adelaide at Noarlunga Oval. The Redlegs, who will be without Matthew Panos, are a white-hot premiership favourite after securing the minor premiership.
