Socceroos and Matildas kit goes back to the future with a look that throws up memories of the 90s
JUST when you thought it was safe to consign the Socceroos’ vomit shirt to history, it seems the kit for this year’s World Cup and women’s Asian Cup has a hint of homage to its famously spewtastic predecessor.

JUST when you thought it was safe to consign the Socceroos’ vomit shirt to history, it seems the kit for this year’s World Cup and women’s Asian Cup has a hint of homage to its famously spewtastic predecessor.
Unveiled by Nike on Thursday, and to be worn first by the Matildas in their opening Asian Cup tie against South Korea early on Sunday, the kit has a distinctly 90s-esque random patterning on the shoulders.
Partnered by yellow shorts and socks – an absence of green that is likely to alienate traditionalists – the new kit goes on sale today on Friday, with the Socceroos to wear it in Russia in June.

The away strip is an uncomfortable blend of classic simplicity and a fluorescent green stripe running diagonally across the front, while the goalkeeper is garbed in a faintly ecclesiastical all-purple.
